What Is The History Of Which Arm To Wear A Wristwatch On?
By Debra Brian Hunt | March 5, 2009
While we look at wrist watches as a very commonplace accessory now, people usually do not know why it is that we wear the watch, or are supposed to wear it on the left hand. The reason for this can be traced by looking at the history of the wristwatch.
After the mainspring was invented in the 15th century, wrist watches were invented as it was not possible to make these before the invention of the mainspring. Patek Philippe in 1868 invented a portable watch that was intended to be a lady’s bracelet watch. It was thought of as jewellery and was thus “unmanly,” so males did not wear them.
Nonetheless, in 1904 Cartier was requested by an aviator friend to create a watch that could be used all through flights. He invented the Santos wristwatch which was the earliest wristwatch made for male, and was premeditated to be realistic in use. These became much admired during World War I because officers could use them without problems, not like a pocket watch which was problematic.
Since watches were made to be practical implements to be used as men were working, it was logical to devise them to be worn on the left hand, since most persons are right handed, thus it would be painless to both hold a weapon and see the time all at once.
Additionally, as early wristwatches had to be wound, they were worn on the left hand with the twisting knob facing outwards to enable the one wearing it could simply wind it up by means of their right hand, and not have to face the difficulty of having to employ the incorrect hand to twist it up.
Another reason for wearing wristwatches on the left hand is that the watch does not get damaged easily. Since we use our right hand for most actions, if we wore our watches on the right hand we would inevitably end up banging it into things a lot and thus breaking it sooner.
Lastly, it is probable that the arm the watch was created for was based purely on the quirk of the earliest inventors of the wristwatch.
Regardless of the reason, people nowadays wear the watch on whatever hand seems more convenient to them. Professionals such as construction workers, doctors’ etc wear watches on left hand, while many other people choose to wear the watch on the right hand. Of course, left-handed people now wear watches on the right hand since it is more convenient for them.
Given that there is now “right” arm to wear the watch on; they are nowadays made so that they can be worn on both arms. Recent wristwatches do not need to be wound; in consequence making it probable to wear them on either arm is more opportune for the possessor of the watch, not considering what history may tell on the matter.

How To Easily Care For Rolex Watches
By Dale Sparks | March 4, 2009
When you own a product that is worth a lot of money, you want to take great care of it. But how do you take care of something when you don’t know what it needs to stay in great condition? That’s what this article is about. How do you care for rolex watches? By following these simple steps.
Seeing that rolex watches have been around for centuries and that the designs on rolex were the basic design for every watch out there, it is obvious that rolex watches are great products. However, even they need basic maintenance to continue to run beautifully. Here are some steps for taking care of your rolex watch.
The Rolex company says that their watches should be serviced every three to five years. Servicing is a detailed process where every part of the rolex watch is inspected and replaced or repaired as needed. The movement is cleaned and checked for accuracy. The case and bracelet are polished and refurbished until they are as good as new. After service has been performed, for the next 24 hours, the watch could be up to ten seconds fast.
When you get your watch serviced, because of the cost and value of rolex watches, you want to make sure the service center you take it to has experience with these type of watches and isn’t just a basic service center. Unless they have had experience with rolex, they could end up damaging it or even breaking it completely. Also, if you take your rolex to a basic service center, they may repair it using parts that are not made specifically for rolex which could damage the watch. You did not spend all the money you did on a rolex just so it could be destroyed by generic parts being used on it.
Finally, many rolex watches were made with plastic crystals inside of them. Some people try to change these by taking out the plastic crystal and replacing it with a sapphire crystal. Do not do this! If your watch came with a plastic crystal, changing it to a sapphire one could damage the watch and make it irreparable.. Again, you did not spend the money you did on a rolex just to have it damaged or broken because of a simple mistake.
Make sure you take your rolex watches to certified rolex specialists. Not doing so could result in your watch being broken or damaged and possibly irreparable.

How Do You Clean A Wristwatch?
By Debra Brian Hunt | February 24, 2009
While cleaning wristwatches is best conducted by an expert, you can do it on your own if you like tinkering with machines .You might not want to try this at first on a costly or much-loved wristwatch that means a lot to you, since you will most likely destroy the first watch you experiment on. Get a low-priced watch to rehearsal on till you learn perfectly.
Firstly, make certain you have an area to do it. A large table that is bare will do fine, or it would be even more ideal if you have a correct workplace in your garage where you can work uninterrupted. Adjoin a white sheet on top of the table before start because this will not only make it easier to observe the small things but will in addition avert parts from bouncing off the table when dropped.
On top of this, you will require excellent lighting in the room. You must also add a light, (fluorescent would be perfect) to the table so you can get some unswerving light. After that you require a first-rate screwdriver set. Confirm you get a fine quality set because this will not harm the screws on the watch.
Moreover, you should also have a tray to keep all the parts you take out of the watch on. It would be perfect if this has portions built into it, and as you strip the watch start placing the pieces from right to left so you don’t get fix up later on. You also need a good pair of tweezers. This will be indispensable to handle the minute parts, and make certain you fit them back into the watch precisely.
You will also require cleaning supplies. If you are serious about this pastime, you can purchase apt ultrasonic parts cleaners from internet, but in the start you can just employ Naptha. This is the component that makes up lighter fluids, and evaporates quickly without leaving remains. Pour a very little quantity in a cup and then infuse all the parts in this for a while.
Then, you have to take a small brush, paintbrush, or makeup brush, and brush the parts and then eliminate them from the fluid and place them on a towel or filter paper to dry them out.
You will also need to get oil, like Moebius to oil the watch pieces. To apply this, you need an oiler which is a thin wire with a flat end. To be able to see what you are doing, you will also need to get a magnifying glass. Buy a blower to help you remove dust from parts, and get a hands remover to properly remove and fit back the posts when you are cleaning the watch.
To commence, remove the back of the watch and open it up. After this, you need to let down the mainspring which is what allows the watch to work. The next thing to exterminate is the movement, followed by the hands and the dial in the end. Keep removing the parts till you are left with the frame of the watch in your hand. Now set all of them in the cleaner fluid and wait for some time.
After this, put the sections back the way you removed them making sure you do it in order right. Wind it and twist the lid back on and notice if it is functioning.

The appeal of watches goes way beyond the dimensions of the case, crystal, movement, details, movement etc. The details matter more to most divers. Things like depth of dial and/or thickness of crystal, weight of watch on wrist and is easy to read, to name some. These are the features that make a watch unique. The features on the SST for instance, made by the Citizen Dive Watch company are truly unique and some of the features included are:

Water resistance to the 660 ft (200m).
With U700 Eco Drive movement.
An alarm and with world time.
A countdown timer.
A countdown timer to mention just a few.
Safety first:
Sometimes, while you are diving, it is easy to forget time. It’s an entirely different and magnificent world down there and it’s easy to get carried away with it all. It would be very easy to forget your limitations while enjoying the world of wonder you are in. Where time passes very quickly. When diving, more than any other time, the necessity of a good citizen dive watch is apparent. Citizen dive watches are popular today and are first in the development of new technology advances. With a Citizen divers watch you can monitor the depth you are at, it warns you (by alarm) when it is time to surface. Citizen watches are equipped with a compass, depth gauge, a temperature gauge and of course the time (alarm). All of which are necessary to the safety of the diver or divers. The Citizen diver watches are the most important pieces of equipment a diver can have with him or her on a dive.
The diversity and the range of styles function, and looks are as varied as there are divers. There is a Citizen dive watch for each discerning diver and new products are being developed with new technology constantly. There are two styles of Citizen diver watches that are very popular currently. They are the Promaster Aqualand, which is made of stainless steel or the Eco-Dive made of titanium. Both of these are good choices and there are others to choose from with all the necessary features you need.
Improper equipment can be fatal for divers underwater but a good Citizen divers watch is a piece of equipment that all divers must not forget to have when diving.

Live Luxuriously Following Lupe Fiasco’s Gold Watch Lyrics
By Ferda Shinsky | February 13, 2009
Whenever you are sitting in the car and you hear Lupe Fiasco’s voice come on your radio, have you ever wondered what the “Gold Watch” lyrics really mean? Is it a story of luxury? A tale of life experience? Is there really any meaning to it at all?
These questions seem inherently unanswerable and perhaps only Lupe himself knows their true answers. Yet one thing is for certain, that Lupe’s “Gold Watch” lyrics provide deep insight into the importance of social class in the society of the United States of America.
The items Lupe lists in the his song are undeniably ones of luxury. Whatever your opinion is of gold chains, fancy cars, diamonds rings, and most importantly gold watches, it is clear that they symbolize status in the eyes of society.
This reflects our constant need to obtain the next hot status item to feel like we are keeping up with society. Without that brand new Omega watch or set of Tiffany diamond earrings, many people feel that society will pass them by them and have their status downgraded.
So, what is the best guide to figure out which of these luxury items you need and watch are best not to waste your money on? That question is much easier asked than answered but, believe it or not, there is some method to the madness.
While it is always important to maintain your individuality, a quick way to pick up own fashion trends is to check out what luxury items other people have purchased. A particularly good place to pick up on trends in society is to go to a mall.
Rather, it is simply because a local mall provides a good showcase of every end of the spectrum out there so you can help gage what style best suits you. It is kind of the look and see approach that gives you the latest luxury styles to examine.
So, next time you have your radio on in your car and you hear the Gold Watch lyrics come on, ask yourself what type of luxury is best for you. Whether itas a new watch, a fancy car, or a diamond ring, chances are there is something out there to suit your style.
