Oris Watches Design - Personality and Precision of Oris Watches

By Boffer | July 5, 2008

The Oris watches gallery, even though it includes only four collections, manages to attract the attention of many people. What makes this watch producer so special is the desire to produce mechanical watches in exclusivity.

Perhaps this is because Oris watches is a manufacturer that believes batteries do not have a place in a Swiss timepiece’s case! And to their credit, if accuracy and excellence is the most important consideration for a watch, then Oris watches may be right in this particular belief. If truth be told, it is well known that mechanical movements are more accurate than quartz movements. I suppose if you consider that the entire Oris watches history is based on absolute precision, it could not have been any other way.

The collections of this timepiece manufacturer are named: Motor Sport, Diving, Aviation and Culture.

The names have a heavy impact on the design of the watches, but otherwise, Oris watches inside are very similar, as they are all built for quality. The continuous desire of becoming better is a common thing in all the aforementioned areas.

Oris watches has taken precision to another level and thus, even in today’s modern world, produces timepieces of accuracy that rivals that of the mechanisms used by racing cars.

As it is known in motor sports, any mistake in the fabrication of the mechanism could be fatal. In the case of Oris watches, the same could be said. Certainly if there is a mistake in the fabrication of Oris watches mechanisms, it would mean the death of the excellent reputation Oris watches have built for themselves.

Although there are only four collections, the great number of models within those collections and the variety of design is great enough, so that more customers are attracted.

The Motor Sport collection includes the Oris TT3, the WilliamsF1 Team, the famous Chronoris and the TT1. All these models include chronograph versions and some of them have been launched as limited editions.

Chronoris is a symbol of respect for the true values, since it is based on an older model. The original had been launched in 1970, but the new version is enhanced, since it features a better design and the latest technology.

The Diving collection includes the Oris Divers model which comes in six different versions. Most of them are water resistant up to 1000 meters, and thus represent a great option for divers.

The next collection, namely Aviation, includes three models - Oris Flight Timer, Big Crown and BC3. These come in different versions, too.

However, the fourth Oris collection - Culture, seems to be the most diverse. The models included are named Dizzy Gillespie, Leonhard Euler, Frank Sinatra, Rectangular, Tonneau, Artellier and Classic. As it can be observed, some of them are dedicated to famous personalities which have marked history, the same way that Oris watches have done.
